Sometimes the small things make us happy

I was putting some Cider (Welsh if you are asking AD) in the garage(the shed is too hot BTW) as there was no room in the kitchen as we are having a BBQ tomorrow night, and I moved a bag out of the way and the joyus clink of bottles sounded their way towards me…

and low and behold there was a bag full of Ales, left over form Xmas (as i was ill and did not drink a drop unless it was a medicinal whiskey), I now have a big smile on my little chubby welsh face.. I may be a little bit sad but so what! but may keep the beers for a little while longer as Iam not sure how Summery Rhymney Dark is!

I Love real ale pump clips – now is this the future?

I am not sure after a first look about the new Bombardier real ale pumps but they may catch on…and I will grow to like then, if I see one in my local as it is quite striking as long as people don’t confuse it with keg beer fonts

I can see why they are doing it to attract the lager drinkers with shine and sparkle… but they may need to explain what a Cask Beer is, or just call it “a lot better than the fizzy rubbish you are drinking”.

Leading cask beer brewer, Wells and Young’s, has unveiled a revolutionary new Bombardier font that is set to change the face of cask beer.

The Wells Bombardier font is being hailed by many industry leaders as the greatest innovation ever in the category, and is set to entice thousands of new consumers to the cask beer category.

Chris Lewis, marketing director at Wells and Young’s says: “The Bombardier font is truly groundbreaking. There is a huge untapped market for cask beer, the challenge being to get people to try the beer, and this new font will do just that.”

Beer Notes: Otley columbO

Went to the Otley Arms in treforrest for a quick couple of pints, I used to go a lot more (when I lived in Rhydefelin) but now only manage it about every other month, the same people are there and I always end up talking to Mostyn about photos and his latest expensive lens!

The ever helpful Andy behind the bar (Number one as they call him), always lets me know what beer is going well.

so I started with a great little pint Stonehenge Ales – Danish dynamite

I have had it before there many times, but the 5% it’s not a session beer(well some of the regulars seem to be on it all day!), but it’s great tasting and well worth searching out.

The other pint I had was a new one (well I have never had it) from Otley Brewing called Otley columbO it’s a hoppier version of their standard O1 using the Columbus hop, a winner I think..

I am a Welshblogger are you?

Well if you blog in Wales or about Wales you should be!

David (ie the Cynical Dragon) has set up a new website and community to aggregate and have guest posts from the welsh bloggers it’s called strangely enough welshbloggers.co.uk.

It’s initial aim I believe was to organise friendly meet ups in the guise of “Welsh Bloggers in the Pub”, so a wide range of egos that are the various bloggers can drink (Cardiff first probably) and chat without slagging each other off online.

I am up for the idea of going to the pub, and as long as there are not groups of bloggers in their own political groups sitting at different tables sneering at the other bloggers, as there are a lot of serious welsh bloggers out there, where as I just do it when the trumpet of truth breaks down.

There is a webtypesgroup meeting up already but a general drink group is a winner.

You can following them on twitter & facebook

Mine’s one of these…..
