I am a Welshblogger are you?

Well if you blog in Wales or about Wales you should be!

David (ie the Cynical Dragon) has set up a new website and community to aggregate and have guest posts from the welsh bloggers it’s called strangely enough welshbloggers.co.uk.

It’s initial aim I believe was to organise friendly meet ups in the guise of “Welsh Bloggers in the Pub”, so a wide range of egos that are the various bloggers can drink (Cardiff first probably) and chat without slagging each other off online.

I am up for the idea of going to the pub, and as long as there are not groups of bloggers in their own political groups sitting at different tables sneering at the other bloggers, as there are a lot of serious welsh bloggers out there, where as I just do it when the trumpet of truth breaks down.

There is a webtypesgroup meeting up already but a general drink group is a winner.

You can following them on twitter & facebook

Best thing I have ever bought – understatement me never

Ok it’s probably still the drugs talking, but went to water my mini greenhouse contents tonight and I am sure everything has grown since Monday!

[flickr]photo:3483312931[/flickr][flickr]photo:3483312459[/flickr]

I bought it before Xmas in a Sale for about £15 a bargain I think.

I am mostly growing Salad leaves and rocket, some herbs including Basil & Coriander and my Tomatoes have just moved from the bathroom tonight.. but as its a great success I will try some other stuff in a week or so, Any recommendations for things I can transfer to pots on the patio?

I think every small garden and gardener should get one!

Look after your teeth and visit the dentist

There are three things in life I don’t fancy much

  • Going to the dentists (thanks to bad childhood experience with gas/air)
  • Anything with Cinnamon in
  • Walking over bridges

More on the last two another day.

Big tooth

So I spent a few hours yesterday afternoon at the university dental hospital in Cardiff having a molar out that has been causing me pain since before Christmas.

I won’t go into graphic details but just to say I have a very low pain threshold so I had to be sedated beforehand with treemarzipan (or something) to calm me down, then had injections in the pallet and gum.

Anyway it took over an hour for the Dr and calm and helpful nurse to remove the offending tooth, but then they had to cut into the gum and clip the bone to remove the roots, and then sew up my gums, the worse thing is the noise(Crunch, crack, pop) and seeing blood and bits of teeth going up the suction tube next to you!

So as you would think I am a bit tender in the mouth area and feeling sorry for myself, so I am convalescing today.

I may sit in the sun in Mrs UW summerhouse later (don’t tell here) but on that note thanks to Mrs Uncle Wilco for her support yesterday, as she had to take me and stay with me, in case I went loopy on the drugs, even though she thinks I am a wimp and would never cope with childbirth!, which is true, lucky I don’t have to then…

So the moral is visit your dentist regularly, look after your teeth and gum’s then you wont have to act like a baby when you are in your late 30’s in front of the dentist/Dr and nurses.

I can’t drink alcohol for 24 hours after the op…(for some made readson) so may have a pint on Wednesday…

Beer Notes: Dragons Den

I meet up with old school mates on Saturday for a pint before the Cardiff Blues v Toulouse game at Cardiff’s millennium stadium, I was not going to the game but as I have not seen them for around a year…  it was a good chance to catch up and have a few pints before they went off to the game, then home.

In fact the weather was so nice I stayed in Cardiff and had a few pints and meet them after the game and ended up at my local a few hours later with one of the boys Rory who was not going home..  but it made me realise  that I can’t handle a all day session anymore…. 🙁 as i was not much use yesterday…

The only downside was that on these match days in Cardiff all the pubs serve their beer in plastic glasses, which does not help the taste in my opinion and this Batemans was the only decent pint and it was not very good at all, plus the megapub Prince of Wales had put the beer prices up. I had to wait until I got home to get a good pint a few Black Sheep

Anyway as the Mrs says I never get in contact with my mates enough, so will have to make the effort to visit Reading in the summer where three of them live & work of course a few decent pints should be waiting for me.

Neil who sits opposite me in work, loves his food… he can talk the hind legs off a giraffe about poncey food and sauces and knows all the Welsh chefs and can bore (sorry talk) about expensive wine till the cows come home 😉 but apart from that he’s a nice bloke!

Today he went back to his roots (newport) and had a mega heart attack XXXL bap.
